Privacy notice

1. Data controller

2. What data we process and why

Waitlist. If you sign up we process your email address, the language of the page, the page you signed up from, the date and time, and the version of this notice that was shown to you.

• Purpose: keeping you on the waitlist and emailing you when access to Nilomail becomes available.
• Legal basis: pre-contractual steps taken at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): you ask us to let you know.
• Providing your email is optional, but without it we cannot add you to the list.
• We will use your email only for this notice. We will not send you newsletters or offers without a separate consent from you.

Site operation and security. Our infrastructure provider processes technical browsing data (IP address, browser type, requested page, date and time) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the site working and secure (Art. 6(1)(f)). We do not use it to profile you.

We do not carry out profiling or automated decision-making.

3. Recipients

Data is processed by our authorised staff and by providers acting as processors under Art. 28 GDPR: Cloudflare, Inc., for hosting, content delivery network and database. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own purposes.

4. Where data is stored and transfers outside the EU

The waitlist database is created in EU jurisdiction. The provider is based in the United States and the site’s traffic goes through its global network, so some processing, such as request routing, may also take place outside the EU.

Transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework to which the provider adheres and, as a fallback, on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses included in its data processing agreement. You can ask us about the safeguards by writing to [email protected].

5. How long we keep data

• Waitlist: up to 12 months after Nilomail launches, or until you ask us to delete it if earlier. Then we delete the email.
• Backups: the database keeps its change history for 30 days, so deleted data also disappears from there within that period.
• Technical browsing data: kept by the provider for limited periods and only for security and operation.

6. Your rights

You can ask us at any time for access, rectification, erasure, restriction and portability of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interest. You can also ask to be removed from the waitlist.

Write to [email protected]: we reply within one month. If you believe your data is processed unlawfully you can lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it).

7. Cookies and tracking

This site does not use cookies or any other tracking or profiling tools, no third-party analytics, and does not load resources from external services (fonts, maps, videos). For this reason we do not show a cookie banner. If we introduce them in future, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.

We publish changes to this notice here, with date and version.
